Developing Responsibility; Caring about achievement

PE and Sport

At Latimer we care about sporting achievement to build a lasting legacy for each pupil and the wider community.

Here at Latimer, the children learn and improve a range of skills through a sporting context. These sports include:

•Gymnastics

•Dance

•Basketball

•Tennis

•Hockey

•Football

•Orienteering

•Cricket

•Athletics

•Swimming (currently for years 4, 5 and 6)

To help underpin the children's core movement skills, every class undertakes regular SAQ (Speed Agility and Quickness) sessions as part of the school curriculum PE. The children have been practising these fundamental movement skills, in a fun and creative manner. Studies have shown throughout the world that SAQ can have a positive impact on, Maths, English, handwriting and self-esteem to name just a few. Over the last twenty years SAQ techniques have been used at the very top level of sports such as Leicester Tigers, Premiership Football teams and National League Hockey.
