Pupil Premium

What is the pupil premium?

The pupil premium is a government initiative in which additional funding is given to schools to help raise the attainment of low-income families; the intention of this being to close any gaps between them and their peers and to ensure that they have equal opportunities.

This funding is paid directly to the school and is dependent on the number of pupils who have been registered as eligible for free school meals in the last six years or have been in care for at least 6 months; a lesser amount is given for students whose parents are in service.

How is this funding used?

At Latimer we ensure that teaching and learning opportunities meet the needs of all pupils.  These needs are continually monitored and analysed, with funding allocated to address the priorities identified.

Evaluation

A range of information is used to review the impact on the school's use of the pupil premium funding.

• Termly and ongoing assessment

• Pupil progress meetings

• Pupil’s work

• Observations of lessons including learning walks

• Monitoring of the effectiveness of interventions

• Pupil interviews

• Parent feedback

This review is shared with parents on the school's website and ongoing discussions are held with governors.
